Christmas Day at Watermoor Church Hall
Despite the cold and icy conditions Christmas Day was full of activity as Holy Trinity Church, Watermoor opened its hall to anyone who would otherwise have spent the day on their own.
Following requests amongst Churches many people came forward to join the team of dedicated volunteers help cook and serve a full Christmas lunch with all of the trimmings.
For those who would otherwise have been unable to get to the event minibuses were provided. People using this service were brought in from many areas across Cirencester and included surrounding villages such as South Cerney and Preston.
While guests were being welcomed at the hall a team of cooks were busy at Jesse’s Bistro finalising the food preparation.
Later in the afternoon while mince pies and coffee were being served all of the guests participated in a free raffle and were able to choose from a large selection of gifts, many donated by the public.
The event was organised by Disability Information and Support in the Cotswolds (DISC) in partnership with Churches Together in Cirencester. Both organisations want to express their thanks to the members of the public, local charities, councils and businesses who contributed to making the day special for so many people.
